Project Overview
The Hope Downs 4 (HD4) Project is located approximately 30 km northwest of Newman in the northwest region of Western Australia. HD4 is part of the Hope Downs Joint Venture (HDJV), an unincorporated joint venture
between Hamersley WA Pty Ltd and Hope Downs Iron Ore Pty Ltd (HDIO). Under the HDJV Agreement Rio Tinto is responsible for providing the project infrastructure, including ore transport to a port.
To haul ore from the HD4 mine a new train load-out loop and rail spur connected to the existing Rio Tinto Rail division (RTRD) railway network is required. The HD4R Project will provide the new infrastructure.

Karijini Civil & Mining provides daily hire, supervision, labour, plant, material and equipment to carry out site civil works as directed by the Engineer.

HD4R Project
The HD4R Project consists of new or upgraded rail infrastructure at:
• LHR Extension – Extension of the existing LHR line to the HD4 mine;
• Bellbird Siding – 3km extension of the existing siding on the Rosella to Juna Downs Line;
• Rosella Siding – Construction of 3 passing tracks and 1 backtrack totalling approximately 14km of track at the existing Rosella Junction;
• Falcon Siding – Construction of a new siding and backtrack, approximately 2.7km long on the Rosella to Juna Downs Line.

The HD4R Project will also include the construction of an 80-man camp (Weelumurra Camp) north of Rosella Siding.
